The fans would celebrate Rafi saab's birthday on Dec.24 and also pay homage on July 31st, Rafi saab's death anniversary.
2. Approach the Government Machinery to honor Mohd Rafi Saab posthumously with nations highest civil award – the Bharat Ratna Award.
3. To build a music library of Rafi saab's songs in Mumbai and circulate the maestro's works to all music lovers..

The voice that ruled the world

The great man died 26 years ago, but Mohammad Rafi's golden voice continues to live with us. Truly nobody can forget the man who sang "Tum Mujhe Yun Bhula Na Paoge".Mohammad Rafi, the man with the golden voice that dominated the Hindi films for a good number of years, bid adieu to this mortal world about a quarter century ago. His 26th death anniversary that falls on July 31 provides an occasion for Rafi's fans and admirers to refresh their memory and pay homage to this genius.Though Rafi's Hindi film songs can still be heard on some of the programmes being aired by various FM radio channels, the void caused by his departure remains too gaping and will never be filled. The very thought that we will never see Rafi walking and singing in flesh and blood is disturbing but that is the law of the nature. One who steps into this mortal world has to bid goodbye sooner or later. So be it.The consolation remains that his voice is preserved on tapes and records and now on CDs. You have to pick up the songs of your choice and play them on your music system but today's generation brought up on remixes and songs set to weird tunes is certainly missing the charm of sending in their requests on postcard to All India Radio and then waiting for their favourite programme and favourite voice. Today's RJs or radio jockeys are packing their programmes with traffic beats, weather bulletins, shopping options and solving personal problems be it your frazzled nerves or an affair gone sour.No description or adjectives can do justice to the genius of Rafi who virtually became the second voice for leading actors of yesteryears like Dilip Kumar, Rajendra Kumar, Dev Anand, Pradeep Kumar, Bharat Bhushan and Shammi Kapoor. He also rendered playback songs for Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor. His teaming up with B.R. Chopra and music director Ravi gave a great number of hits in movies produced by B.R. Films. The tenor and range of his malleable voice was simply unmatched and few could touch the depth of Rafi. Veteran composers like S.D. Burman, Madan Mohan and Naushad exploited these qualities of Rafi to the hilt and his numbers touched new heights in the hands of these masters. The acclaimed music director A.R. Rahman is so enamoured of the great man's voice that he admitted just the other day that he is looking for someone with a `Rafi' voice and not a `roughy' voice! He also sang for composers like Laxmikant-Pyarelal and Shankar-Jaikishan.All-time hitIf the soft romantic touch made "Mere Mehboob Tujhe Meri Mohabbat Ki Qasam'' an all-time hit, the "Yahoo! Chahe Koi Mujhe Jungli Kahe'' and "Bade Mian Deewane Aise Na Bano'' bring back memories of Rafi giving his full-throated musical response. If Naushad's compositions in "Baiju Bawara'' were any indication of the depth and range of Rafi, you need to go no further than listen to "Maan Tarpat Hari Darshan Ko Aaj'' with your eyes closed to get transported to the world of classical masters. Other hits like "Kya Se Kya Ho Gaya'', "Tere Mere Sapne Ab Ek Rang Hai'', "Waadiyan Mera Daaman, Raaste Meri Baahen'' and "Aapne Yaad Dilaya To Mujhe Yaad Aaya'' bring alive those melodious times again in inimitable voice of Rafi.It mattered little to him that phenomenon known as Kishore Kumar had burst upon Bollywood and dominated the music scene later. It was also the golden period of melody for Bollywood when giants like Hemant Kumar, Mukesh, Talat Mehmood and Manna Dey strode the scene and on the other hand the melody queens Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle dominated the Hindi movies' musical scores. Clearly, the `60s to early `80s was the era of melody and its fading away can only be moaned. Truly, beyond compare Rafi's voice remains a guiding light for upcoming singers and the younger lot who are musically tuned. His rendition of "Tum Mujhe Yun Bhula Na Paoge'' holds so true, you will never forget Rafi. Needless to say that his songs will continue to provide that soothing, romantic touch to the listeners.
