Rafi Ki Yaaden…….by K.S. Ramachandran

Time and tide waits for none. Every year comes and goes. Things keep happening. Unfortunately, we cannot forget the daily routine and unfailingly do not miss our eating schedules. Is Paapi Paete Ki Qatir…There is even a common saying….”Time is the best healer”…..But then… Has the wound healed?? Never Ever…Rafi Sahab’s untimely demise on the sad 31st July 1980 was a blow to the musical world and the Rafians. Nothing can compromise the loss…..not even the passing of time would heal the wound. In fact we miss Rafi Sahab more and more as years pass by…..The unexplainable misery and pain cannot be explained.
Kaise Kategi Zindagi…..Tere Begair.Tee Begair……..
Yaad Na Jaaye Beete Dinoki…..
Beete Dinoki Yaad Sataati Hai Aajbi. Kya Woh Zamane Phir Kabhi Wapas Na Aayenge.
Kya Hum Tamaam Umrubar Roye Jaayenge….Beete Dinoki Yaad Sataati Hai Aajbi….
Mohd Rafi has been a singer par excellence and any amount of praise for this great soul would be an understatement. More you praise Rafi Sahab, one feels that he needs something more. No words can express this great gentleman, human being of great values and above all an awesome singer with a golden voice which the Almighty created only once in the human race!
Some of the songs sung by Rafi Sahab with ease and comfort cannot be even attempted by anyone, even with a good formal training. The expressions, range, and the soothing originality of the vocal chord can never be equaled by anyone even for generations to come.
The growing missing link in music is even felt today after 28 years of his untimely demise and we are listening to his glorious voice every day unfailingly, discuss about his unparallel achievements and also keep exchange telephone calls by trying to sing his numbers. What a great soul.
I am sure his family members must be proud to realise that there are growing rafi fans and pujari’s even from the current generations and is ever increasing. Long live Rafi Sahab and his contribution to music. Truly he is a BaadShah in playback singing.
I am attempting to sing his songs everyday as a prayer as I love him to my heart, like many of us do.
Following are some of my renditions as sharaddhanjali to the great legend. Please click the links to listen:
